Yes, editing AVCHD files, especially on a less able computer, can be trying, so transcoding is still the way to go for many. On the PC, the two most recommended are Cineform and Avid DNxHD. Avid’s solution is simply a free codec download while Cineform’s has a cost involved.

If the DVD is not copy protected, and if there is only one VOB file for the video, it may be as simple as renaming the file’s extension to .mpg, which you’ll then be able to place on a Premiere timeline.

With a max bevel setting of “10” it doesn’t work very well. All we get is a cylinder with rounded edges.

Sorry…should have mentioned that I’d already tried moving the anchor point. The ‘Swivel’ action of the Basic 3D effect seems to ignore that, and still swivels on the actual center of the clip…not on the new anchor point.

If you really need the audio and video joined, or ‘multiplexed’ into a single .mpg file, then when you encode, select the ‘Multiplexing’ tab and check ‘DVD’, to join them.
