Playing HDV videos in Premiere 5.5
Hey There,
I am trying to edit a concert that I filmed using a Panasonic HVX200a camera. When I import the footage into Premiere 5.5 only the audio plays. There is no video. I have tried looking for a possible codec to download or something that will allow the audio to play as well. I have quick time pro, and it still wont play on that either. I can play it in VLC, but that is about it. Does anyone know how I can get the footage to show up, without converting it to another file type? -

How are you importing the footage? Are you dragging from the file folder into Premiere? AVCHD, XDCAM, and similar footage needs to be imported using the media browser. In Premiere, go to Window > Media Browser. Navigate the media browser to your footage folder and drag the files from the Media Browser pane to your project library.

I hadn’t tried that, but even when I try to import them that way it says “Codec missing or unavailable”

Copy whole file structure to hdd then ingest via Media Browser.
