I saved a file to the mpeg2 dvd format in premiere pro cs6. What I gor was a separate file for video and audio. Consequently when I play the video there is no sound. What have I got wrong?

If you really need the audio and video joined, or ‘multiplexed’ into a single .mpg file, then when you encode, select the ‘Multiplexing’ tab and check ‘DVD’, to join them.

Just pick MPEG2 (not MPEG2-DVD) from the format list. The only difference is that MPEG2 multiplexes the audio and video into the same file, whereas MPEG2-DVD makes seperate video and audio files, which might be more useful when authoring with programs like Encore (although Encore will accept multiplexed files as well).
