It is strange. CS6 had gotten so that it played our AVCHD footage with ease. Now, neither CC nor CC2014 will play it smoothly even at ¼ resolution if it’s got a Lumetri effect on it. The first few seconds are OK, but from that point it becomes a slideshow. I would hope that it’s a drive issue, but I’ve tried almost every recommended drive setup there is – from Adobe’s own recommendations to Harm Millaard’s!

Wait..I’d forgotten that a lot of the footage in this project was ProRes. I’ve not read of any ramifications of ProRes on a PC. Hmmm…

Seems like I’m relegated to spending my weekends troubleshooting software that I pay quite a bit of money for. Don’t get me wrong – I have no problems with being a beta tester, as I have been for other software packages for years. It’s just that it was known ‘up front’ that I was signing up to be a beta tester, and the beta version was provided.

CS6, while it seemed to have it’s share of issues, didn’t require nearly the amount of time troubleshooting problems. Since CC, it seems like that’s about all I do.

I don’t do Macs or FCP, so as far as a free solution, someone else will have to interject.

DVDSP is automatically converting your footage to MPEG2 format, which is the DVD standard. I would imagine that DVDSP will allow you to tweak what settings it uses to do this, but again, I don’t do Macs.

First of all, you realize that your HD footage is being re-encoded to SD. If you are expecting a DVD to look like the original HD footage, you’re starting out at a disadvantage.

I’d advise taking control of the conversion to SD by doing it yourself, instead of letting your authoring software handle that task for you.

The settings that you are prompted to enter on the start of a new project are the settings for the initial Sequence – not the Project. You can have many variations of sequences inside a single project. The settings you chose look fine for the type of media you’ll have captured.

Here’s a good tutorial on making sure you create a Sequence with the correct settings for your media…

Yeah, I was considering his initial post, in which he indicated a concern of the time involved with syncing hundreds of clips. If time isn’t a factor, by all means, spend it syncing. I had given PluralEyes a try earlier on after seeing a demo at NAB, but my experience wasn’t as pleasant as the demo. Perhaps I need to take another look – wasn’t aware that it synced in batch. That would be a huge time-saver, unless you had to go back in a do a lot of hand tweaking.

As I said in your duplicate post, I prefer not to spend time syncing footage that wont be used, so I save it until I’ve made edit decisions.

Well, I’d had other issues caused by MB Looks, enough so that I’ve uninstalled it, but now hat you’ve brought this up, I was actually having your issue as well, and it’s stopped since uninstalling MB Looks. I thought that the dynamic linking issue had just ‘self-resolved’.
