Another quick note: do not render to h264 out of After Effects. You’ll get better results if you render a Quicktime (animation codec) file from After Effects and then create your h264 file using Quicktime Pro (x264 codec is really good) or Compressor, if you have that.

Which version of Cinema 4D are you using? I think they only just introduced support for 29.97 in R13.
Also, what are you rendering out from Cinema 4D? A Quicktime? Image sequence? I would recommend rendering your project out of Cinema as an image sequence (TIFF, for example), then import that sequence into After Effects. If you are exporting as a Quicktime movie, export Animation codec for best quality.
In After Effects make sure your rendered footage is interpreted correctly (right click footage in the Project panel and choose Interpret).

December 4, 2011 at 7:58 pm in reply to: Layer partially disappearing in Full Quality ViewJust wondered if the layer is maybe clipping through the camera. Although that wouldn’t explain the discrepancy between full and half res previews, necessarily.

Do you have multi-processing enabled? If so, maybe try disabling it or adjusting the settings. I’ve found that multi-processing settings can have a huge effect on whether a render chokes or not. On occasion, and I’ve no idea what the exact issue is, I’ve had problems with TIFF files inside AE. Just as a test, maybe convert your TIFF sequences to something like PNGs and see if you still have the same issues. At least you might be able to eliminate a couple of possible causes.

Can you give some more information of what is in your project? i.e., footage types, graphics files, effects, etc.

Not that I know of – I’ve had to go through and manually nudge keyframes in the past like this.
