  • The problem never did get fixed, I guess. Maybe in CS6…

    Trapcode Form would work, too.

4 hours to render? How long is it? Normally, if you import a Quicktime (animation codec) into AE and re-render it to the same format it’s pretty quick. Adding some basic text shouldn’t add much to the render time.

  • Thanks very much Kevin – one of these days I’ll get my head around expressions…

    Have a great weekend!

  • Thanks guys, just playing with these now. One thing – Kevin, I got yours to work right away, just the way I need it, but both the linear wipe and light sweep have to be on the same layer. I’m actually trying to make it work so that the linear wipe is on the text layer and the light sweep is on the solid below. I’ve tried hacking the expression about a bit to get this to work, but I’m not entirely sure how to go about it. Any thoughts?

Thanks so much for your help.

2 minutes at 5mb? That pretty much says it all. As you’ve already said, it’s garbage.

Click the layer you want to be the first layer, shift click the layer you want to be the last layer, then cut (ctrl/cmd+x) and paste (ctrl/cmd+v). Voila!

Try pre-composing the layer before applying motion blur/DOF

Rather than compress in AE, perhaps try using Quicktime 7 and export your animation codec QTs as h264 files using the x264 codec – we use that at work for showing videos to clients for feedback, etc. The quality is pretty decent if you have your settings right.

We don’t send h264 files to station, usually Beta SP or Motion JPEG for cinema pre-show and stuff that gets uploaded to clients.
