Two last questions:
if the files on the Mac Pro have already been downresed, what’s the best way to restore them to previous full res state?
if we buy the MP a Radeon 4870 which new MPs have as an option, can it handle the same large files that the MBP with the NVIDIA 8600 can do?
Thanks again!

Thanks Mark.
We are indeed going in tight on these big images (many of which are paintings so quality matters). The motion files are 1080i and post house is finishing at 1080i, using color. Assume we should set render to “best” in Motion, and export to ProRes 422, are there other settings to know about that impact quality of QT?

We are having the same problem. We’ve been on 7.02 for a while and it has worked fine for a long time, but now it’s trying to close the first gap in the sequence, not the one where the playbar is. You shouldn’t need to highlight the gap — never did before.
Could this be related to recent ProAps update?

Thanks guys for your suggestions. We’ve done the media managed recapture many times, and usually there are issues with TC or tape names or whatever (not to mention billable hours at the post house). hoping to avoid that since we already have the QT files on a HD.
With today’s cameras and workflows you can’t assume that typical projects originate on tape, so it’s really stunning to me that a terenex or other hardware converter can’t be patched in some way to accept a signal from file or played out of a file-based system. Talk about instant obsolescence.

Thanks, Mark. BTW, your tutorials are really wonderful and have helped us a LOT.
we’ve been modifying subtitle clips by selecting one and sending it to editor, modifying the master and saving. That works for everything but font size.
Are you saying it’s better to just open the master independently, change font size and re-import into FCP? If you do that and drag it onto an existing clip, will it try to overwrite the existing text or just change font size?

Did send to motion, changed font size, saved template, returned to FCP and the font size doesn’t change on existing clips. Did the same thing with other attributes like color or outline, and the clips on timeline update as expected.

Our 7.6.3 only has one preferences option in the pulldown menu under QT player 7. Or do we need to upgrade to QT pro to see the other? If so, should the FCS unlock code work to upgrade (doesn’t seem to) or do we have to pay separately?
Thanks.

Thanks, David. i’ve read of this but cannot get this screen to appear. we’re on 10.6.2 and the preferences settings on QT 7 player don’t look like that, QT player 10 doesn’t appear to have preferences. Can you help us find that?

We have been having similar problems with 7.0.1 – its definitely a bug. sequences renaming themselves and at other times all the clips in a sequence renaming themselves as the name of the sequence instead of the clip. some say that having any freeze frames in the sequence can trigger it, but having to delete all freezes is no way to work.

do you mean in the drop down menu on the render tab at the top of the canvas, or is there another place? does that tab control renders that happen in FC?
Thanks
