You may want to try the either of the audio EQ plug-ins that come with Vegas.
Right click on the audio track and select Add non-real-time Event FX. The plug-in controls will come up and you can try different settings and save a new wave file with the changes. Add the new audio to the timeline and listen.
    Hope this helps

If your working in DV format just save as DV again. As long as you don’t add any filters, transistions or fades the video will be written from the original video file (no loss of quality). This only works with DV video. DV in an .avi wrapper is the same thing.

    Try uninstalling all Norton products.

There may be a removal tool from Symantic to completely remove all traces.

    or
search the registry if you dare and remove any links that appear to call on .dll or .exe files to run.
Run MSconfig and check that no Symantic/Norton links are running.
    or
reformat and use AVG or Avast or AntiVir. I personally prefer AVG over Avast but I’ve heard that AntiVir is pretty good also.

In the File menu you should see Erase DVD as a selection.

DV video is transfered from the DV camera to your computer so the footage probably looks grainy playing from the camera. If this is not the case then you may have another problem.

I just tried your way of running Vegas Capture and it worked fine. I’m running version 6.0a. Don’t really know if that will make a difference.
    You might try re-installing Vegas.

Some things to consider when creating DVD’s are that you don’t have the bitrate too high for the video. 8k would be as high as you should go using VBR and if your audio is PCM, even lower for the peak setting.
Some older DVD players have a hard time reading burnt DVD’s and if the bitrate is to high it can cause sync problems.
I’ve also seen the overuse of motion graphics in menus to cause problems with playback on some players.
    Good Luck
