With the paint stroke set to write on, I’m assuming that you have it set to a Luma blend mode. In motion the Luma blend mode effects everything. To get around it place the elements to write on (line and paint stroke) into their own group. Set the groups blend mode to Normal. Then it will not effect everything else in the project. WOW CS5 is amazing! I could get use to making a living Off this instead if FCP.I agree, I love cutting RAW footage, it saves a ton of time and space. I’m cutting my teeth on a hour long project and loving it. I landed on this thread in search of getting the razor tool to snap to the play head and thanks for your help Kevin. Worked like a charm. Any way of setting it so it can do a chunky “snap” animation?

The small amount that I’ve seen about VideoCopilot’s Element 3D looks amazing. Has anyone used it yet? I use Zaxwerks to do 3D logos for clients. Can you bring in a layered Illustrator file or something to create a 3D logo?

I always make a master of the file in the format I worked in. So in your case, ProRes 422. I go to File, Export, Quick Time Movie. Make sure it is set to Current Settings and the Make Movie Self-Contained check box is checked.
With that file you can compress it for DVD, Blu-ray and DCP if needs be. You can also look into backing it up to tape but that becomes pricy. Best of luck.

To change the “Fixed Aspect Ratio” do the following: Open up the Project Pane. Click on the Media tab. Select the AI file. Click on the Inspector tab in the Inspector. Select the Media tab if it is not already selected. Un check the Fixed Resolution check box. Jaggy edges become smooth.
Be sure your Illustrator file is RGB.
By the way, you can not work with the individual layers in a multi layered AI file in Motion. You can do it in AE. To work with multi layers you need to convert the AI to a PSD. Hope this helps and best of luck.
