WOW CS5 is amazing! I could get use to making a living Off this instead if FCP. I digress.

If any of you Premiere Gurus could tell me the Translation keys for there Short cuts in Premiere I would be grateful.

Shift+Z in FCP make the timeline fit to the seq. what short cut works like this in Premiere

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the RASOR tool to snap to my playhead to make a cut?

Thanks for the help in advance!

    I wear many hats.

    “Shift+Z” in fcp –> “\” in PPro

The “S” key enables snapping, so if you have the blade tool enabled, it should snap to your playhead once snapping is turned on. CMD+K inserts a cut wherever the playhead is (similar to opt+V in FCP). Note that CMD+K only works for active/selected tracks.

Not sure what you mean by “translation keys.” Be sure not to use < and > to move clips around, as those are for insert and overlay edits, respectively. Opt+rightArrow and opt+leftArrow moves a selected clip around. PageUp/PageDown jumps between edits (for selected tracks only).

Overall PPro has way fewer hotkeys than FCP, but most of what’s missing can be customized. In my first week with PPro, I added around 50 custom hotkeys (I hate mousing when I don’t have to!).

With snapping enabled, if you get anywhere near the playhead, you’ll cut right at the playhead. It doesn’t have a chunky “snap” animation like FCP, but believe me, you’ll cut at the playhead if you get near it and click with the tool.

I agree, I love cutting RAW footage, it saves a ton of time and space. I’m cutting my teeth on a hour long project and loving it. I landed on this thread in search of getting the razor tool to snap to the play head and thanks for your help Kevin. Worked like a charm. Any way of setting it so it can do a chunky “snap” animation?
