Can you export out the clip and then bring it into your editing application or Motion and reverse the clip?

Ha Ha, seems funny to buy a bigger monitor and then end up needing to move it closer to your face then the monitor you just replaced.
Thanks but in my situation that wont help. All of my monitors, decks and computer fit into the wall that my desk is up against. If I move the monitor forward it looks funny. If you go to my profile “About” section here on the COW you can see a photo of what I’m talking about. Seems silly that my smaller monitor makes everything bigger then my bigger monitor. Luckily my eyes have adjusted to it and I seem to be moving fast.

If you we going to edit and add on to an existing corporate project, what type of Master Video Files would you hope that the previous video editor delivered to the client? (If you could not get the full Premiere, FCP, or AVID project files. Master files only)With good luck I have called who ever made the original and asked them to give me the RAW files and most the time they have provided them. I have had other productions companies call me asking for the RAW files and I have made it as easy as I can for them. If I could only have it in one codec I would pick ProRes 422 (HQ).

Stephen, it seems that the H.264 files work, but they don’t work well with FC is what you’re saying?Yes.
As I mentioned I have never used FCE and did some pocking around. Looks like plug-ins have not been created to convert the footage in the Log and Transfer window. However, there is still a free solution. Check out MPEG Streamclip. It will convert your clips to ProRes 422 or whatever codec you want to work with. Check it out here: https://www.squared5.com/

CS6 rocks with Native footage. I just cut a video that was over a hour long and was shot with three different codecs and it worked great. I was extremely happy with the results. Premiere has limited ability to get its RAW footage into Color Grading programs and I hope that is addressed in the next version.

Try out multiple editors. Just hire them for a project and see how you both get along. If it works out try to hire them full time. If it doesn’t work out, don’t invite them back.

I’ve never used Final Cut Express but as far as I understand it is just like FCP. If that is the case you can’t edit H.264 files. They are clunky in FCP and will slow everything down. You need to Log and Transfer the files. In FCP you need to install a free plug-in available on Cannon’s site. Not sure if this help.
