Could it be the dynamic guides snapping it onto something else? Try hitting N to turn Snapping off.

First off. I have Motion 4, not 5 for reasons not worth getting into. Anyways, Yes you can animate characters and that tutorial doesn’t use the puppet tool. You don’t have adjustment layers and expressions but they aren’t needed. The key to character animations like I did for this Book Trailer is being able to parent items. For example, parent the hand to the arm so they both move together but you do the parent order so that if you rotate the hand it doesn’t effect the arm. Not sure if I’m making sense. Motion 5 has a parameter rig feature. I’m not sure but I thought that was supposed to be like parenting in After Effects. Hope this helps.

If you just want to change the color of an item I recommend a program like COLOR or Resolve. You can select a color and change it to a simular color like I did in this Color Correction Demo Reel. It can be done in FCP as well but the results are usually not that good.

I would create a Color Matte (Or use the Lower 3rd option in the Text section). Add text to taste, use crop tool for color matte is you didn’t use lower 3rd option. Nest them together. Then add keyframes say at 30 frames to the crop option in the motion tab. Go to frame 0 and move the crop sliders and so the right gets cropped off. It will animate the bar and text onto the screen when you play it. Have the additional text devolve on. Repeat crop keyframes to have it come off. Hopefully this helps. Best of luck.

If you want to copy the first one I would add a solid and create a mask to make it a thin bar. Add a Ramp filter if you want a gradient. Add text for the URL. Use the shape tool to create a star. Add a rectangle shape for the box. Make it so there is no fill and just a Stroke for an out line. Place your webpage inside. Hope this helps best of luck.

The discounted price looks good. It will suck when the year ends and we have to go to the non-discounted rate. This makes me disappointed in Adobe. Leasing a car cost more then buying and I’m not happy about leasing software.
