If you want to eliminate scratches in AE you will need to use the clone tool to paint them out. It will be a very time consuming process. I personally think it gives old film a cool look.

You and all FCP 7 users can continue to limp along for a while, but inevitably you and all others will hit the wall, and you’ll have stop using FCP as a crutch.I agree with David. FCP 7 is such a time suck. Premiere Pro and Avid can work with RAW files so you don’t have to log and transfer. Premiere you can key the RAW footage and put a background behind the keyed footage and you still don’t need to render. I haven’t rendered a project in Premiere in probably 6 months. It will also tell you how many time a clip is in your timeline which is extremely helpful especially when the project is getting worked on by different editors. I switched to Premiere and I haven’t regretted it for one second.

Another site that has already done the licensing leg work for you is Font Squirrel, their licensee is easy to understand:
I could list about 30 other sites, my point is…there are lots of great free font sites that have made the licensing very easy so you don’t need to worry about it. Hope this helps and best of luck.

When I started doing TV spots HD wasn’t around. You could go a little over the title safe line in SD and it never was a problem. The first HD spot I did (years ago) we wondered if we could go a little to the left or right beyond the SD Center Cut. I watched it the day it aired and it cut off the text that went a little over the SD title safe area. We had to get the text completely into SD title safe in order for it to be visible do to HD center cut.

Sorry, I don’t know if this technique has a name. However to me it looks like they are just animating still photos like they are a cartoon character. Take a look at these tutorials and I think they will get you pointed in the right direction:
