I’ve ran into the same problem. Just one DVCPro HD 1080i60 clip with no filters or time remapping applied. Select clip and send to Motion. In Motion I change from Constant Speed to Variable speed and the clip disappears. Change back to Constant Speed and the clip re-appears. If I import the same clip directly into Motion then it works like a champ. I have no idea as to what is causing that. The Set Speed behavior is awesome and works either way.

Sacha, yeah give the Stabilize behavior a shot. You will be amazed at what it can do. Unfortunately, it can’t fix everything. If you want to do it in FCP the same thing is called the SmoothCam filter. Hope this helps and best of luck.

It has been a while since I’ve used iPhoto, I don’t even have it installed on my computer right now. Anyways, maybe I’m not understanding what you want, but if it is one of the Slideshows they can be exported out to different movie formats. Apple has a tutorial on it. Go down to “Enjoy a few choice memories” and there are two video in that section to watch that will cover how to export the slideshow out of iPhoto so you can import it into FCP:
