You don’t have to uninstall Vegas, just install it again. Your serial key can be found in the Sony website under “My Account” and “My Software”.

K-Lite is the worst at screwing up Vegas. I would uninstall K-Lite and reinstall Vegas.
I am an advocate of frequent system and component updates with few exceptions. Quicktime is one that I never update because it appears that every QT update also incorporates a host of new incompatibilities with Vegas (Premiere and Avid users have the same complaint). But you must have Quicktime installed to edit some MP4 files.
I never edit AVC files, so I am the wrong source of Quicktime advice. Perhaps someone else can chip in with a recommendation of a working QT version. Once it is working on your PC, don’t upgrade QT.

Use the free program mediainfo to see what codec was used.
On the topic of codecs – NEVER install a codec pack on your editing PC. Those are for gamers and can replace the otherwise good encoding codecs installed by Vegas with inferior ones.

Why don’t you ctrl drag the studio event to match the video? No chopping or sync problems with the video event. (There are no clips on the timeline – only events).

Try this:
Reset all preferences and delete cached data
Holding Ctrl + Shift while starting Vegas will reset all preferences and delete cached data prior to loading the program.
If you have recently installed new hardware (especially a new graphics card), this is necessary because Vegas may be loading settings for your old hardware.The only other thing I can think of is that an external drive referenced by the veg file does not exist, but that should simply give you the “missing media” error.

It’s in the “Render As” menu. Pick the DVDA template most appropriate for your project. If there is an “=” in front of a template, then it is a match for your project settings. If you project is over 70 minutes you will need to adjust the bitrate in the “Customize Template” menu. Also do a “render as” of the AC3 file using the Dolby Professional template and with the same base filename. Your workflow is likely different from mine because I design my menus in Photoshop, but I drag the Mpeg file into the DVDA “Project Overview” and because the AC3 file has the same name, it comes along for the ride. You will never see the AC3 file in the “Project Overview”, but it is there.
If you want a DVD that has no menu and just plays when inserted into the player, delete the menu from “Project Overview” and make sure the media has the “first play” star on it.

Did you use a DVDA template to encode the video and the Dolby Pro AC3 to encode the audio separately?
I’ve only seen this happen when you make a DVD with audio included in the MPEG file.
