    [Brian Killeen] “How can I create a single ripple effect traveling through my text or a frame ?”

    You can use a Height map or Displacement Map as shown in my tutorial below. If you start with a ripple video as the map it will ripple through your text:

    You can also use a plug-in like Boris FX Continuum Complete which has 3D ripple deformers. Here is a tutorial on driving a ripple with the beat mapper:
