A lot of things come to mind. Most laptop processors will slow down the clock speed when they get hot. Download and run CoreTemp (it’s free) and monitor your processor temps while running Vegas. I am not a fan of laptops for editing, but when is the last time you opened the case to remove the dust bunnies?
Just exiting a program does not remove it from memory. Firefox, Chrome and all Microsoft Office programs remain in memory so that the next time you run them, they start working faster than if you had to start cold.
You don’t say how long it works “temporarily” – is it seconds, minutes, hours? You could be hitting your Pagefile, which will slow the running programs to a crawl. What is your Pagefile configuration? How much free space is on your system drive? Do you only have one drive? How much RAM?

Maybe we skipped a step in our explanations.
Let’s say I want to use the same lower-thirds graphic for Mickey, Donald and Goofy. I start with the graphic and one name over it. Make new copies of the name track for each additional name. (Don’t duplicate the track as the text events are irrevocably linked as references to the same event). Now add a blank track and make it the parent of all the name and graphic tracks. Do your motion keyframing on the parent track. Now, one at a time, mute all but one name and save the project file. For example, “mickey-lt.veg”, etc. Do the same for each name. In your main project, add a video track and drop your lower-thirds project files where you want them. No copying keyframes and no keyframes on the master project.
Since I don’t like to move the text because it can stutter on the viewer’s system, I’ll keep doing it with the text fade-in and no parent/child relationship.

When I do lower-thirds for a client it is often for two or three-dozen people. I need a fast solution and can’t spend a lot of time on it.
Still, Keyframes, but no parent/child tracks. (Note, no audio in these examples).
I decided to try using parent/child. This may be a little easier because there is no need to design the motion more than once, so no keyframes need to be copied. I may use this method in future projects as it may shave a few minutes.

I am having trouble conceptualizing the case where you need parent track motion. Can you post a short video of what you’re doing?
In my example I did exactly this without a single keyframe or parent/child relationship.

I have many videos downloaded in MP4 and I never expierenced that problem while playing them in Windows Media Player before.
MP4 is just the container and what you put into it depends on the codec used.
Hmmm, very very strange, I have been searching all over the internet for some answers and all ive found is many people with the same problem yet no answers, seems like this is just an unexplainable issue for the time being…
And is WMP the common denominator?

So, why do you think it’s a Vegas problem?
First, few people still use WMP, but it’s possible that the MP4 streaming bug may be at fault here. Here’s a utility to fix-non-streaming-mp4s. No guarantee that it will fix the problem with WMP, but it can’t hurt to try.

It seems unlikely. I have accidentally turned off external drive docks and all Vegas does is complain that the media is offline.
