I look at the site and just browsing the web developers and I see page after page after page of one designer, but the only difference is the location:

I.E., Spam. Link loading. Abusing the system. All of which Google penalizes in the page rank.
Why would I post my services on a site that, if it has a terms of service, aren’t enforced?

You could pay for just one-month, but it doesn’t make a customer-hostile policy any more palatable.
As I said before, Adobe has run out of new ideas. There are fewer new features and the flow of customer upgrades to get the new features is slowing. That is the definition of a mature product. It will look great on the balance sheet for a few years as the R&D departments are trimmed – why keep the engineers on the payroll if there’s no big new compelling features to work on?

John, as I said before, CS5 does all I need. I will never pay the ransom. I would have considered upgrades as Adobe introduces compelling new features, but not a ransom.

I own CS5 and absolutely will not go to the ransomeware model that Adobe has started. (Are you paying attention, Sony)? CS5 does all I ever will need to make my DVD menus and labels. I could “upgrade” to CC for just $20/month forever, but it’s the forever part that sucks. No, thank you – I’ll stick with CS5. On the rare occasions that I need some AE work, I hire it out. I cannot justify the cost and the huge learning curve for those rare times that AE would be the best tool.
I upgrade when there are compelling new features that I want. Adobe has run out of new features, so they had to resort to the ransom model to keep the cash flow running. If I am correct, look for the development team at Adobe to shrink over the next few years. After all, why develop new features when your customer base is already a hostage? No compelling new features, cut the dev team, make more profit. What’s not to like if you are an Adobe shareholder?
Bob, you don’t lose your files – just the program to edit them stops working when you stop paying the ransom. You can always take them to someone who drank the Kool-Aid.

As I said, “nothing” is a data point. It means that Vegas is not likely to be the problem.
Can you reproduce the problem on a smaller project? If so, try moving the project to a different hard disk drive and test again.BTW, how long is the delay?
You didn’t say what your hardware is, but “green” drives, especially the first gen, would power down after a couple of seconds of not being used. Not good for video editing. The first-gen SSD drives also have a write delay, but that’s measured in milliseconds. Gamers hated it.

Actually, the video is probably assigned to an intern who looks at the file properties and checks a box that it meets the specs.
In the days of tape, your video has to be evaluated on a scope by a real video engineer.

I shoot stage performance videos and often put up to two hours on one DVD. Yes, there’s a bit of degradation but it’s good enough for the client, and the client won’t pay the additional cost of a DL or BD disc.
For longer storage I capture VHS tapes to AVI files and store the files on hard disks. I have a closet full of hard disk drives and in ten years of this kind of archival storage, I have not once been unable to return to the original footage.
