You have some setting wrong if DVDA is trying to recompress the MPEG file you created in Vegas from a ten-minute AVI. Make sure that you’re using the DVD Architect NTSB preset.

There’s several ways, but you can right-click on the media icon (in the project overview) and insert the scene selection menu. Repeat for as many menu pages as you want, then with single clicks, select the extra menu items and delete them with the ‘del’ key.
The Properties Dialogue is your friend. This is where you specify all the details that you see on the DVD menu.

April 27, 2006 at 9:18 pm in reply to: OT: record your DV straight to any USB device / ipodI’ve been wondering when someone was going to do this.
Similarly, I saw a box a few weeks ago that had two USB ports on it. Plug any USB storage into port A and any similar or larger USB storage into port B and the box copies port A to port B. No PC needed. It’s only $50 but I haven’t thought of a use for it yet.

I am not a forum leader, but I did spend an hour with it at NAB.
If you were even thinking of Sonicfire Pro with moods, wait until you can demo Cinescore.

April 24, 2006 at 3:29 am in reply to: Is it possible to gradually resize preview window? There was a discussion about this recently on the Sony forums.
If you try to size the preview window to something other than a whole number of pixels in both the x and y dimensions, then the procesor has to do more work to scale and interpolate the pixels.

If you would put a little more information into your profile – like where you are located – then you might find someone in your neighborhood willing to help.
Some random thoughts:
* Don’t worry about the mess on your preview window yet, you can go back to clean that up later when you get the links into the correct menus.
* The media can go anywhere. I usually move mine to the root just to keep my menu list clean.
* The easiest way to get to the button properties is to double click on the menu and single click on the link. There’s not much you can’t do with DVDA3. I like to try to duplicate some of the really neat menus that I see on Hollywood videos using only Vegas/DVDA3 and Photoshop. So far I’ve figured out a solution to all of them.

“There are many reasons for not making certain settings “defaultable” in Vegas.”
I can’t think of one.

You should have at least 2X free space (25Gb/hr for rough calculations) if you plan to do any editing. Otherwise your temp files will consume your HD.
