  • Ever wanting to Repeat a Script?

Well if you HAVEN’T all the scripts you want as tiny Icons on the toolbar – eh . .I just discovered “View Script Editor” – and yes this is for the knowledgeable creative script editors we can count to be fortunate to have amongst us – but I didn’t know about this “Script Editor”? .. Well I do now!

Ctrl+Alt+0 will bring up this View. Once you have browsed for a script and have it in front of you in all its nakedness (. .hmmm .. nice! . .. ) you get to “RUN” the script and if you want to do it again .. just “RUN” it again .. and again ..

I’ve sometimes wanted to run a script without needing to have it on the toolbar; have its one icon and to be able to repeat its results.

We have Undo and Redo – but not Repeat Script. This is useful. Try it you might just like it. AND you get to see the innards of the script.

. .now there’s a thought “Grazie! Put that script editor away!!! NOW!!!”

I guess somebody is gonna tell me that there is a simple switch/click to repeat last script??

.. so what DOES “var” mean? . .and “IncTime” ? ?

    Grazie

Grazie, I have asked for a “run last script run” button in the past. BTW, which app are you looking at? Sound Forge has a built-in script editor.

The “how” was when I was rummaging & looking for/through ALL the Commands in Keyboard setup in Preferences. This one stood out a mile and I thought “Script Editor” what on Earth is that then? Hit the K/S and there it was!

As Edward points out, it IS present on SF – presumably SF8, which I don’t have – this must have been present within Vegas 6 ever since SF8 was out – So maybe it was in V6c but it is definitely within V6d – seen it!!

I can imagine that for Script Wizzos, creating and testing scripts, this would be a boon. Me? I just stumbled on it and found a way to source scripts; “repeat” last script – easily PLUS most scripts have an internal “description” of what each script “does”, and seeing this text before the actual code has made sourcing and auditioning scripts a wee bit more tactile and immediate for me.

    Cheers!

    Grazie

Hi Grazie, very cool…………..thanks for this!! One question though, how do I close the Script Editor view, should I no longer want to see it?
