Mike – the DVD player had to decode the MPEG file in realtime, and yes, a player can definitely have a problem with sudden white.
OP – If you are looking for a white flash transition, try a value of 200,200,200. The eye will still see a white flash, but the devoder in the player may also have less work to do. Also, if watching the video on a CRT monitor or TV, the sudden white could cause a loss of sync for one or two frames.

Your camera owner may be buying into the myth that using the camera as a deck wears out the heads.
I should wish for so much business here that my cameras would wear out the heads from overuse. It’s never happened to anyone I know and they shoot and ‘capture’ over Firewire ten to 20 hours of video every week.
As I said, since I get paid to shoot and edit, I can only wish for the day that my shop is so busy that this becomes an issue.

Of all the professional associations that get my money every year, the NAPP is by far the most bang for the buck. Their member’s website has hundreds of tutorials, tips and their member’s only help desk is fantastic. Membership is worth every penny.
Here’s a tip. Find a seminar near you (kelbytraining.com/seminars/) and join NAPP at a seminar. You will get some freebies (books and or DVD’s) that you otherwise have to buy.

Some of the new video cards (ATI 5800 series) have one DVI and two HDMI ports and with the ability to drive all three as separate screens. Might be cheaper than the AJA solution.
The latest issue of CPU Magazine just did a review of them.

It would be awfully difficult because there would be a ton of keyframes to handle the 3-d rotation of ever individual letter. The example was done in flash. There’s several low-cost flash text generators in the wild. I’ve been experimenting with FlashVortex (https://www.flashvortex.com/index.php?action=category&categoryId=5) for my website elements. Moyea makes a decent, low-cost SWF to AVI converter that can convert the flash file to AVI for editing.

Is there a reason that you need the video media in separate files? Try making a single MPG/AC3 set. I suspect that this is your problem.
BTW, you don’t “render” MPG and AC3, they are encoded, notwithstanding that Vegas puts both render and compression tools in the “render as” menu.

Adobe doesn’t own the flv Codec, On2 does. Adobe just licenses it from On2 (now from Google). This should get real interesting since Google has a habit of giving away their technology.
