My guess is that you are missing a component in Windows. CHM files are the windows standard help file format. Double click on any .chm file (they are all over the system disk) and it should open the help dialogue. If you can’t open any .chm file then you may need to reinstall the OS.

I can’t comment on Win8 because I will not install it on any of my PCs.

Control-Drag slows the whole clip. The velocity envelope lets you control the speed inside the event.

I wouldn’t hold out for MainConcept to be fixed anytime soon. DivX and MainConcept were purchased by Parallax Capital Partners and StepStone Group in March. (Think- Gordon Gekko)

    No.
There are no ProRes codecs for the PC. It’s proprietary to Apple products.

However, you can use the free program ffmbc to convert ProRes to a format you can use in Vegas. (I’ve never tried it because I don’t have any ProRes files to work with). Get it here.

If you do get the Ninja, please do share your results and workflow here.

If I recall correctly, Vegas 10 was announced and demonstrated at NAB, but not released for a few weeks after the show.

Chances are that the people at the recruiting tables are not going to be making the hiring decision, but if your demo knocks their socks off they will probably put a few gold stars on your resume.

In my experience, the hiring managers have blinders on. If the director says FCP, then they are absolutely blind to any other experience. They will hire a kid right out of High School with one FCP project under their belt but never even give a Vegas editor with 20-years experience and some feature film experience a second look.

Did you have “include markers” checked in the render as template?
