Other than DVD’s, I can’t recall ever seeing this ability. But you can put second-language audio tracks on your DVD (which VLC can play).

Mike, I think the OP was asking, as we all have at one time or another, is the ability to make ripple a one-time use. I can’t begin to count the number of times that I had forgotten to turn ripple off only to see unexpected results in a later edit.

The High Profile supports H.264 video produced at a maximum resolution of 4096 × 2048 pixels and a data rate of 720 Mbps. Few desktop computers could display a complete frame, much less play back that stream at 30 frames per second.

The next time it ‘stops’, you can use the Windows Resource Monitor to try to determine what process has caused the problem. Go to Start, Run, and enter resmon. In the Overview tab, look for vegas120.exe in the image column. Right-click on the program image name and select “Analyze Wait Chain”.

You are comparing way too many variables. What codec did you use on the FCP? Higher bitrate usually makes for higher quality, but if you are viewing the video made on the PC on a Mac, then you have different colorspace. The PC video viewed on a mac will be darker. Post an image, because “quality” is a nebulous term.

You may have inadvertently turned on “sticky keys”. This feature makes the CTRL and ALT keys a toggle, like CapsLock, press on, press off.
Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Ease of Access Center\Set up Sticky Keys and make sure sticky keys is off.

If Vegas terminates abnormally, the FileIOSurrogate process may be left running in memory. This can prevent a new instance of the program from starting up.
Exit Vegas then open the Task Manager, and look in the Processes Tag. Sort the list by Name. If you see FileIOSurrogate running, right-click and tell Task Manager to Kill the process. After that, the program should start up normally and relaunch a new copy of FileIOSurrogate.
There should be no fileIOSurrogate process running if Vegas is not. There should be only one instance of FileIOSurrogate running for each instance of Vegas (Vegas120.exe in the process list). You may need to refresh the task manager window to make sure.Steve Mann
