“I had thought about rendering it to video in vegas and then porting it over but didn’t want to have to go to that trouble if I didn’t need to.”
Actually, you get better results by doing as much in Vegas before building the DVD in DVDA. You have more encoding control and options, and you do not want DVDA to be recoding your media because that always compromises the video quality.

1) DVDA is not an editor. If you want a longer piece of media, you need to make it longer in the editor (Vegas).
2) Button overlay will do this.
3) This is the default mode of DVDA. Just go to the Project Overview menu and arrange things where you want them. You will likely have to fix broken links (in Properties) after moving menu items.
4)In Properties, look for “End Action”.
Sorry that this is not a step-by-step tutorial, but I make all of my menus and buttons in Photoshop, so a lot of what I just told you is from memory.

June 26, 2011 at 2:59 am in reply to: Vegas Pro 9.0 – preview keeps switching back to Preview (Half)This is the default mode for Vegas 10. What it means is that your PC can’t keep up with the demands of best(full). If you turn off the auto mode (see Shawn’s reply), then it will slow the playback to less than full-speed.

I’m not sure what your asking, but it sounds like you are trying to make a simple task really hard (so you’ll look more pro??)
First, who use the timeline? That’s what it’s there for.
Second, before PluralEyes was introduced last year, I would look for sync points in my audio tracks to line up multi-camera projects. It just took a few minutes, but PluralEyes does it better.
Last. Media on the Vegas timeline is an event, not a clip. Which is why you won’t find “clip” in the help files or manuals references to the timeline. So, what do you mean by “merging”??

“I did a lot of research reading reviews on several different interfaces. M-Audio got terrible reviews simply because of their drivers.”
Support for M-Audio, including driver updates, kind of lost any attention since Avid bought the company.

I have an 8-channel Presonus box that I’ve used for recording music videos and ADR. With Vegas, audio tracks that you don’t “Arm for Record” will play back at the same time.

Shouldn’t be any different. You’re just copying data from the hard-disk to the DVD.

Home Premium is really all you need. The main difference is enterprise networking options that the home or small-office user would never need. You can add the XP simulation to any version (except starter) with a download from Microsoft:

You can either make the stats table in Photoshop or Vegas – I prefer Photoshop simply because you have much more control over how it looks. In Vegas, you need to use a non-justified font (like Courier), then you can use the tab character to make the columns.

I am having a problem picturing your first issue. On the second, you can either make the whole dialog image in Photoshop or make the background in Photoshop and place generated text over it. Myself, I would do it all in Photoshop. One PSD file with each image on it’s own layer, then import that PSD file into the timeline as takes.
