I got 2 simple questions where I am struggeling a tad with Vegas Pro 10:

    (1) I would like to use “tabs” in some text media generator. The goal is to have a rather simple table that contains multiple rows & columns. Really, simple, but I have not found a good way. How do I go about it ?

    (2) I’d like to use title inserts like in the olden silent movie days. Is there a simpler way than to use a background image and put text over it ? Make me wonder whether I shouldn’t simply do images in Photoshop that include the text ?

I am having a problem picturing your first issue. On the second, you can either make the whole dialog image in Photoshop or make the background in Photoshop and place generated text over it. Myself, I would do it all in Photoshop. One PSD file with each image on it’s own layer, then import that PSD file into the timeline as takes.

Here is the real example. It’s a screen that gives some stats of volleyball players in the preceeding video. Something like:

    Nancy Sue 5'10" OH/Setter 2014
    Giggly Girl 5'8" Setter 2013
    Evil Spiker 6'2" Middle 2013

So, a very simple table, 4 columns. Can be done trivially if you have tab-stops. (cannot really show this here, as this text widget has the same issue ;-))

Yes, I can do this in Photoshop/Illustrator, but I was looking for a simple way to do this withing Vegas quickly.

You can either make the stats table in Photoshop or Vegas – I prefer Photoshop simply because you have much more control over how it looks. In Vegas, you need to use a non-justified font (like Courier), then you can use the tab character to make the columns.
