Low Memory or Out of Memory does not mean “Not enough RAM”, though adding RAM can sometimes fix a “Low Memory” waning. A “Low Memory” warning usually means that you have exceeded your commit limit. You need either a bigger page file, more physical memory, or both.
One of the biggest sources of confusion over Windows memory usage is the whole concept of virtual memory compared to physical memory. Windows organizes memory, physical and virtual, into pages. To make things more confusing, there’s also a page file (sometimes referred to as a paging file and dynamic RAM). Many Windows users still think of this as a swap file, a bit of disk storage that is only called into play when you absolutely run out of physical RAM. In versions of Windows starting with Vista, that is no longer the case. The most important thing to realize is that physical memory and the page file added together equal the commit limit, which is the total amount of virtual memory that all processes can reserve and commit.
Start the Task Manager, click on the “Processes” tab, then click on “Commit Size” to sort by size. This will show you which processes are memory hogs that you may be able to shut down.
All Windows since XP (and Unix/Linux for that matter) always wants to have page space. Always. Programs (including drivers and codecs) like to and are allowed to pre-allocate as much memory as they want. Even if they are never ever going to actually use it. Sometimes those programs properly deallocate memory, sometimes they don’t (resulting in “memory leak”). Sometimes, programs leave parts of themselves in allocated memory just in case you are going to run that program again. (MS Word, Excel and other Office programs are particularly adept at this). If you have no page file and a program wants to commit some for itself, your PC will crash (AKA, BSOD, or Blue Screen of Death).
Paging file configuration is in the System properties, which you can get to by typing “sysdm.cpl” into the Run dialog, clicking on the Advanced tab, clicking on the Performance Options button, clicking on the Advanced tab, and then clicking on the Change button. I would suggest a value of 1.5X the currently allocated value. The old advice of 2X or 3X your RAM is, well, old advice when a few MB of RAM was normal. The largest paging file that you can select in Windows is 4,095 megabytes (MB).
Also, Windows supports up to 16 paging files, but each must be on a separate volume, so if you have more than one internal disk drive you could try enabling a Paging File on your second hard-disk. DO NOT put a paging file on an external drive because if it’s not present when Windows boots, then Windows will crash.

What resolutions the Youtube “processing” achieves really depends on the tide, planet alignment, airspeed and luck. There is no rhyme nor reason for it. I have uploaded virtually identical files and gotten different results from the YouTube “processor”. I uploaded a clients’ file for him to review, saw a spelling error in a subtext, fixed the spelling and encoded and uploaded a new file – all within fifteen minutes. The first file “processed” to 1080i. The second file “processed” to 480p. An hour later I deleted the second file and uploaded it again. Nothing here changed, but this time the YouTube “processor” again provided 1080i.

Who Really Makes the Disc?
Most media is produced by a relatively small number of factories, located in several different places. These factories are mostly present in Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, China and India. There are more, but those are the largest ones. The best media generally comes from Japan, Taiwan and Singapore. The worst typically comes from China and Malaysia.
The blank disc brand name on the package means almost nothing. Apple is a great brand, but they do not make their own discs, instead outsourcing to a company like Mitsubishi Chemicals. Common companies like Memorex, Maxell and Imation all outsource to media vendors. Mitsubishi also makes the discs for Verbatim, etc.
It is the media ID that is important, as it reveals the disc manufacturer. Unfortunately, this is not written on packaging or anywhere else. Companies want consumers to be oblivious to this sort of behind-the-scenes information. The Media ID is also used by your DVD burner to determine the burn parameters which includes the maximum burn speed.
I recommend that you use the freeware “DVD Identifier” to read the media ID to learn who *really* made the discs in your box:

Likewise, your DVD burner has a similar lookup table in its firmware. If your burner is relatively old, then newer DVD manufacturer’s codes won’t be found. The tipoff to this is when your DVD burner falls back to “safe” parameters, like a maximum burn speed of 2X. Some older burners revert to their max burn speed, like 24X, which almost never works. If this happens to you, then you need a firmware update or a new DVD burner.
Try using a slower disk burn speed. I use a value midway in the minimum and maximum offered by DVDA.

If you are burning the AVI file on the DVD, then it will only play on a PC. To play on a DVD player, the DVD has to be Authored. “Prepare” on DVDA does the mechanics of authoring the DVD. You get two folders as a result, VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. These are the files that need to be burned on the DVD, then a DVD player will play it.
