This may be part of the confusion. DVDA is not rendering anything, it “Prepares” the DVD files. It’s fast because it’s just parsing out the MPEG into Chapter and Title files and assembling it into the _Video folder on the DVD. (It also creates a blank _Audio folder because some players with strict adherence to the DVD spec won’t play a DVD that doesn’t have an _Audio folder.)
Prepare should never take more than a few minutes.

You can use the HVR-DR60 on any camera that puts a video signal on the Firewire port. I have used mine on the Z1, PD150 and VX2000.
All that the cameras designed to accompany the Record Unit does is to send commands to the recorder from the camera. There is no command communication from other cameras to the Record Unit, like the Z1, so I just start recording manually from the DR-60.

My DVD Arch project freezes when rendering
Well, this may be part of the problem. You do not want DVDA to re-encode your video – any re-encode compromises video quality. You encode the video in Vegas using the appropriate DVD Architect template and bitrate settings. All DVDA should do is prepare the vob file structure (for DVD) or the iso file for Blu-Ray.

How can there be any difference in quality? It’s digital.
If you had asked the difference from DV and HDV tapes, the answer would have been: “The price”.
Before I went tapeless five years ago, I would run the cheapest Sony Premiere tapes in my Sony Z1 – never a problem after about 200 tapes.

YOU may not have anything else open, but Windows has probably launched a few dozen processes, each consuming resources.. Running an anti-virus program? That could be consuming a lot of resources (especially Norton).
