  • Why does SV merge all video tracks into one?

Posted by Ron Whitaker on April 25, 2012 at 12:45 am

I’m working on a project. I have a main, 30 minute video clip, from which I’m copying and pasting into a new project.

For the new project, I created a template with several video tracks. Then I simply go to the main project, copy the video/audio portion that I want, then paste them into the template.

I saved my template, with several tracks, but whenever I close down for the day, then open it the next day, all the video tracks have been merged into one track. Why is it doing this and how can I prevent it?

Does it show up in your recent projects list? Because I’m not really following your description. If you have proj.veg with 8 tracks, you should be able to open proj.veg the next day and have the same 8 tracks. If you open proj.veg as a media file in another project it will be nested.

If that’s the case, try right-clicking on the ‘merged’ event and see if there is an option ‘edit in Vegas’. That would mean it is indeed a nested project file.

Maybe you could send the .veg file(s).

I’m with Jeff – there’s something missing from your description of the workflow. No clues here.

Yep. I had a nested project.

What version of Vegas are you using, and is this a multi-cam enabled project?
