You’re probably seeing floating point number conversion for display. But since it takes a 3dB change before the human ear can hear a difference, I doubt that a 0.1 dB change would ever be noticed by anyone.

I beg to differ – it is not a design flaw, as it was not designed to sync with video.
The digital field recorders (Zoom, Tascam, Marantz, etc) were designed for audio recording: better-than-CD quality for music, etc.
And they do an excellent job of that – as designed.

Not bad design – just lowest cost design for voice recorders. Most weren’t designed to be synchronized with video, so loose timing specs were acceptable.
Then DSLR’s hit the market. Now there’s a poor design for audio recording.

Or that they buy all their crystals from the same source.

“Media Offline” sometimes happens when the media is on a network device. It’s not usually a problem as when you click on it, it reconnects.

You are providing very little information for anyone to offer assistance. Starting with what is your source video format? What are your PC specs?, what version of Vegas?

Very pleased with V12. But I also had no problems with V6,7,8,9,10 or 11.

So camera 1 would record “100001.mts” and camera two would start with “200001.mts”, etc. Check your camera manual.

As Steve said – never install a generic “Codec Pack” on an editing PC. Codec Packs are for gamers and usually very inferior to the codecs installed by Sony.
Sony Vegas should handle mP4 files without additional codecs. If you have an mp4 file that Vegas won’t open, then run gspot or mediaiinfo to see what codec was used to make the file.
If it says “xvid” or “divx” then realize that Vegas never worked well with xvid/divx files. Neither does Premiere, FCP or Avid.
Since you say the video is really lagging in preview, and it won’t play without a codec pack, then I’ll bet that the file is probably divx and the lagging preview is probably the fault of the codec having to encode every frame for display.
