Thank you for the tip on using VLC player. That helped. However, when I would try to convert the footage, VLC would crash every time. I was able to use Handbrake to successfully convert the footage into the format I preferred. Thanks everyone for your helpful responses.

Ok, my brain finally flickered to life. I duplicated the layer and keyframed an inverted mask on the top layer, revealing the keyed out layer underneath.

For my own benefit I am replying to my own question. I figured out the problem. It seemed to be a problem with the compression of the video files. I was using apple prores .movs . I took those .movs and ran them through after effects and exported them as .m2v’s for video, and .wav’s for audio. I then imported these to Encore. That seemed to fix the problem with the wavy text.
It turned out that the whole video was wavy, not just the text. It was just more obvious when the text appeared.

Thank you for the response Ridley. I think I got thrown off because when I tried to use Keylight, it wouldn’t work. I just tried it again with keylight and still had no luck. Color Key did work however, so thanks. I feel dumb that I didn’t try it before. I guess I figured if it wouldn’t work with Keylight, then…
Do you know how to make it work with Keylight?

Thanks for the response. The only problem with that is that I need to motion track to one end of the graphic, not to the whole thing. Think of the ends of a teeter totter going up and down.

Never mind. Problem solved.

July 21, 2012 at 12:06 am in reply to: Video Preview button/window within Menu (BluRay)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hK9mskbipKk This tut really helped me out. I’m so close. I’ve got the window animated now how I wanted it. My problem now, is that I need my menu items to last longer. I’ve set the duration of the menu to the length of the video clip (28 seconds). But after 15 seconds, the entire menu goes black, until it reaches 28 seconds, after which it loops and starts over. How to I keep everything up for the full 28 seconds? And no, that’s not what she said.

Never mind folks, figured it out. I needed to be selecting the directory, meaning the .RDC file, not the actual .R3D files.
