  • Wavy text in DVD build

I keep running into this problem. When I build a dvd in encore, the text from the video ends up doing this wavy heat wave kind of effect. Very undesirable. The text in the menu buttons is just fine. But in the videos, every time text appears (titles etc) they do this wavy thing. No ideas here. Any help out there?

Check the levels of the white text. They should NOT be 255-255-255. If they are it may cause interference when they playback in NTSC.

Use 240-240-240 for white to make it more compatible.

For my own benefit I am replying to my own question. I figured out the problem. It seemed to be a problem with the compression of the video files. I was using apple prores .movs . I took those .movs and ran them through after effects and exported them as .m2v’s for video, and .wav’s for audio. I then imported these to Encore. That seemed to fix the problem with the wavy text.

It turned out that the whole video was wavy, not just the text. It was just more obvious when the text appeared.
