    Wow! I mean wow!

I enjoyed reading this so much. I could totally see each and everyone on this forum exactly the way you put it in this piece.

David, the calm General marching his troops. Walter, the disgruntled warrior, Craig the indispensable Sergeant Major, Ben the chirpy corporal & me, the scared first timer Private.

[Gustavo Bermudas] “I actually started using MC 5.5, got the FCP trade promotion, and I find it very stable, but the “stability” I was referring to, is not much of performance, is that of a software that continues to improve without having to do re-writes based on superstitious assumptions that versions 8 and 9 are bad, and leave you starting over again getting plugins that work, and so on, you get the idea.
Right now I can edit straight from R3D files, prores, all I was ever asking FCP to do.
I’ll still use FCP, but I’m starting to appreciate more what Avid is doing, at least there was never hysteria when they realese a new version.
All I hope they do, is that they support more 3rd party hardware cards, which at NAB they told me they will.”

Why does this sound like an AVID ad?

[Paul Jay] “FCP7 will run for years.”

    Absolutely wrong assumption.

Its like sayind SD will live for years even though HD is here. How much stuff is being shot in SD today? Leave that aside, how many new cameras shoot standard def anymore? Maybe 5 percent.

In these times when formats like AVCHD & H.264 are the order of the day,you can’t wait for days in order to transcode the footage.

If FCP X is a hit, FCP 7 will very soon be totally out of scene. The only way i see FCP 7 surviving for a few years is if FCP X is a big fail and if AVID does not bring out something remarkable.

And I thought only British had dry humor! Maybe thats why i could not sense any. And it has not helped that we lost the stanley cup finals to Boston last night.

But yes, you are right. In this high pressure profession life would be very difficult without a dose of laugh. I am willing to accept all even if it means poking fun at myself. 😉

I am sure you could have put it better David.

I hope you know people look up to you, here on this forum.

[David Roche] “Oh but it does – don’t you know the Avid execs are reading this forum with great delight?”

You just wanna send your message across to AVID, dont you?

    Then why this cross posting?

Your post in Final cut X forum does not make any sense. It would be much better served in Avid Forum.

    Oh God!

I hope i did not create this hullabaloo .

But wait a minute, the screengrab in my post does not have any watermark on it. And frankly speaking i did not know about ‘Ripples Story’ untill i read this thread.

Actually, I think export options would be under the share menu. I am not sure if we have any leaked pictures of share menu. So untill we see it ourselves, can’t say if export OMF has been killed or not.

    Taking a cue from David’s sarcasm…

[David Roth Weiss] “Oh my!!! The sky is falling again!!!”

Thats not fair David. Only I am allowed to say that on this forum. After all i have been ranting about it for almost 2 months and now you suddenly want to take over my position.I have had so much fun doing this that very soon I will be doing a series of webinars on ranting about FCP X.

[David Roth Weiss] “On the other hand, maybe our good friend Sohrab has mashed-up this image so we’ll all pull out just a few more of our feathers?”

Oh no! My secret is out already. A few days ago Adobe & Avid guys called me(As they found out from my posts that I am a FCP X hater) & we sat down and devised this strategy of coming up with mashed up pics of FCP X.

But you see, they did not choose a very bright person because you have already figured this out!
