Mr Ebberts from the Expressions forum handed me this for the null’s position parameter:

    [value[0],thisComp.height – value[1]]

So far, seems to work like a charm.

Yes. Good. It seems to work. Thanks for that.

That sounds like what I’m looking for. But I should have mentioned, I’ve never applied an expression before. How is it done?

In PFTrack, my 10-frame marker moves downward, therefore Y 10 to Y 1. PFTrack calls the bottom row of pixels Y 1.

I bring that info into AE, and my null instead moves upwards, simply because AE calls the TOP row of pixels Y 1.

I’m looking to make them match.

Off the top, your idea sounds like a good one. But how do you stick a minus sign in there? If you try to select all your keys, then click the Y parameter and type “-” before the first number, every single key after that transforms into that first number.

I’ll try posting in Expressions, as suggested by Mr LaRonde. But if you can tell me how to put a minus in there properly, it’s the first thing I’ll try.

    Thanks.

Yes, I’ve been using adjustment layer for this.

    Thanks for the reply.

A gradient is a good idea, actually. Better than checkerboard. Should of thought of it.

Not that one. It’s more like grey and white, isn’t it. I meant a big fat black and white thing, size-adjustable (which I found in the effects) I heard that white works well. But I tried that once and wound up with a white halo around the edges when I then put up a black background. I guess checkerboard is the way to go.

Autodesk Maya and Softimage XSI are pretty high end. You’ll also want to look into renderers. Both mentioned above come with mental ray, which is also top shelf software, but not everybody has the rocket science degree required to work with it. You can also look at 3DStudio Max (Maya’s little brother). Now sure how any of these rank in the gaming industry though.

Just a few things to Google over the weekend…

    Will try. Thanks very much.

Yes, I’ve already applied the super tight junk matte routine. I’m a big fan. I’ll look into Mr. Onneweer’s ideas as soon as I can.

I’m just having a lot of trouble keeping hair, even after I’ve isolated the character’s head on its own layer with a circular matte (and it’s not even blond hair).

    Thanks.
