December 6, 2009 at 12:10 pm in reply to: CS4, Windows 7, 4GB ram, and it is slow….Hi!
Your problem is USB drives, probably!
I was very dissapointed when I saw 20 of USB drives in use when I come to be director/postproduction manager in one studio.
I immidiately get rid of this drives, and make internal RADI 5 arrays on all workstations. Now it is working like a dream.
Also, keep your video drivers up to date, and install CS4 updates for Premiere and MEdia encoder….

December 5, 2009 at 8:11 am in reply to: Pr CS4.0 vs CS4.2 render quality got worse or… ???Well,
lets try few things:
1. If your material is upper field, export it as upper filed, because if U put progressive, your material will be deinterlaced, so it will use some quality.
2. Can U try to use UNCOMPRRESSED AVI, just to see is it maybe DV artefacts, because on RED color in DV U will have very jagged edges? IS your text RED?
3. Finally, open DV 16:9 sequence, not HDV. PLace clips in timeline, right click on clips ant put SCALE TO FRAME SIZE. THen try to export and see if there is some difference.
I hope this may help U…….My expiriance is that in 4.2 updates, outputs are just great!

December 4, 2009 at 9:51 am in reply to: Pr CS4.0 vs CS4.2 render quality got worse or… ???Hi!
I think that your problem is that U haven’t updated MEdia Encoder to version 4.2, whitch solves this problems with bad rendering output.
I have that problems also with output from Premiere!Cheers!

Hi!
I will now explain it to you very detailed:
Situation 1:
If U have upper, lower and progressive footage combination, it is best to deinterlace interlaced footage, and make everythink progressive. In that way footage will have the same look and feel.
Situation 2:
Mix of upper/lower field footage
Lets imagine that U have sone outpot card for monitoring (Blackmagic, AJA, Matrox…)
Pick up your project settings (example Blackmagic DV – upper field).
Puit your clips on timeline and play.
OK, now U see that your clip 003.mpg is different field order (lower) as other clips.
Go to project window, right click on clip and go to INTERPRET FOOTAGE. Choose for this clip to be in upper field, and click ok.
Repeat this procedure to all clips that are in different field order than your other timeline clips.Thats it….
Cheers!

November 28, 2009 at 5:02 pm in reply to: Is it me or is AE export way better than AME?AME is now upddated (4.2 update), and all export issues have been fixed….
But, regarding your answer, AFX export is very good, so if are working on a project in this software, than go on with AFX….

November 12, 2009 at 8:29 am in reply to: Blackmagic and homemade raid my sucess storyHi Joshua!
Yes, it is a Gygabyte MB, with onboard RAID 0,1,5…..Yeah, RAID 5 is great regarding read speed, and it is very safe and secure….. I am very happy with my system now..
Just…want to ask, maybe it is offtopic, but: what is your reccomended system setup for working with DVCPROHD/DECLINK HD EXTREME, i mean in Premiere CS4 with DVCPROHD, when I put LEVELS, and one COLOR CORRECTION plugin, it is not more real time playable on I7 Quadcore machine with 6Gb of ram and this RAID setup…..

Hi,
in order to hear audio, U must connect your speakers to blackmagic audio output!
In that way they have fixed lost of sync that happened sometimes on other audio cards and premiere pro series.
