    Thank you guys,

I am really looking forward to constantly upgrade myself…Right now I am not so hardly involved in daily editing and post, currently I work as director/creative/postproduction manager in production house, but lot of times I have to sit myself to do/redo some part, or to show my editors what and how to do something….As I am very strong in Adobe and even 3ds max (with lights and camera setup and rendering) I can’t say that tomorrow I will be able to deal with some team of Final cut editors and Color graders when I go to some other studio, or decide to freelance again….
My opinion is if I am their chief I have to know things equal or better then them and to deal with every problem that might happen in production process..
That is why I want to learn and become familiar also with FCP/Color combination, and somewhere in my mind I think investing in one Macbook pro and FC studio now will be a good thing for my future progress…
Also, I think I will look “cooler” with Mac 🙂

You can buy one of BLACKMAGIC’s converters from SDI to ANALOG and then to connect it to your TV.

With this converter, you can route your SDI to component to your SONY monitor, and you can route your composite signal to TV (or you can make S video cable for better quality picture).

    One more question:

Does your SONY monitor have also VIDEO OUT, so you can have out routed trough it?

  • On performance differences between Adobe native timelines and Blackmagic timelines, the rules haven’t changed here. Adobe is able to scale back the preview complexity in order to show more realtime performance. Because our boards require full frame rate full resolution in order to output the frame it will seem that it doesn’t perform as well. This was the same in CS4, but without the mercury engine accelerating the timeline. Certainly if something is wrong we want to address it, but it is normal to see two equivalent timelines (BMD/Adobe) perform differently.

OK, then please NOTE on your website

BLACKMAGIC CARDS HAVE LIMITED FUNCTIONALITY IN WORKING WITH CS5 PACKAGE. PERFORMANCE AND STABILITY OF YOUR ADOBE EDIT APPLICATION WILL BE DEGRADED WHEN USING BLACKMAGIC SETTINGS.

I have recently bought 3 DECLINK HD cards for studio I am working in, and it is a disaster, especially on MAC – every day I am under pressure from my CEO and staff about issues with your cards and CS5 – and irony is that I bought this combination to improve studio work flow.

So please stop with epic speeches on this forum and do something that can make our work stable and fast and your life easier and pockets full of our money.

  • Hanging up on simple cross dissolve in Blackmagic sequence,
crashing and hanging, poor performance with MErcury on in BMD sequence, and on MAC – cracshing every 5 minutes, when opening NON BLACKMAGIC sequence in project with BLACKMAGIC sequnce – crash, very poor performance on 8 core MAc…….

The list is even bigger, but I cant remember all things now…

  • Hi Nicky,

    what issues do you have?
My list is too big to put it in this post…both for MAC and PC….

    🙂

  • Guys from Blackmagic are probably too busy to answer because they are fixing their drivers day and night …I have a lot of problems, too – everyday, both on PC and MAC…….

Blackmagic settings are working in CS5, but you will notice same problems as in cs4 – in Blackmagic sequnce you will have around 1/3 of Premiere full power…..

  • There are many problems with DECLINK and CS5…..drivers are problematic, and basicly, BLACKMAGIC is degrading the Premiere CS5 performance….I am sorry to say that, I was a big fan of Blackmagic, but this is true!

Try to work in NON BLACKMAGIC sequence it is all working fine…

I will post one link to Adobe forums, which is talking about the same problems with Intensity performance. I am sorry if this is not usual in Creative Cow forum, and my apologies to forum moderators, but this can help you see that you are not alone.

    🙂

Have you attempted to contact any of our support crew about the issues you\’re facing?

No, because in past I had a very bad experience with slow responses….

What version of drivers are you using?

    Hi, 7.6.3

    What formats this? 720p? 1080i?

    1080i DVCPROHD

When you say that it\’s not playing, is this even with one single layer?

It is playing with one filter only and 2, max 3 layers, and in non Blackmagic project I can play more than that. Same sequence in non BMD project is playing fine, but in BMD project it is not playing or stopping….
Also, there is a big issue (even in cs4) with DVCPRO HD clips (when we put them in SD or non DVCPRO sequence – they become unplayable until we put motion on them od 100.1%, just to have something – I wrote about this to your support, but no answer!)

Which bmd presets are you using?

    BMD DVCPROHD 1080 50i
And, yes – my system is WIN 7 64 ultimate
