I have no idea what Apple are planning though I do think that a) send to Motion will arrive pretty quickly, and b) many of the things that a lot of people are hoping/expecting will either not happen any time soon, and in some cases they will never happen at all.
Of course, I could be wrong – but the one thing I would be prepared to bet the farm on is that FCP will never, ever “return to normal” 😉

No, this isn’t currently possible unfortunately.

The simplest way is to drop the clip you want to export to Motion into a new “Project” on its own and then use the Share option to do the export.

Strangely the smallest duration for still frame import is 1/10 second which is just silly and no use to you. The best way to do this kind of thing anyway is to use QuickTime 7 to import your image sequence and then export a movie (Note “export” not “save”) which you can then use inside FCPX if that’s where you want to work.

I could be wrong, but it looks as though the options are limited for this, chiefly because within FCPX, as you say, there is no way to control keyframe easing for Transforms (other than the spatial smoothing they have implemented). You are stuck with the default linear interpolation when you animate inside FCPX.
It’s equally hard to get you this by publishing from Motion, although Motion itself is capable of great sophistication in keyframing. If you had a specific length in mind for an move/size animation then it would be possible to give you this control in full but obviously it would be fairly limiting. The only other workaround I can think might work is to give you the option to make your composition in two or more parts with a section for the move in, a section for the hold and a section for the move out. Again this isn’t really practical.
If you would like to explore something custom-made then I’m happy to look at it for you, but I don’t think I can make a universal template.
I a very much hoping that this very simple and basic issue of Transform keyframing behaviours is fixed very soon so it can all be done within FCPX.

Unfortunately as you say there is no ability to shape the transform keyframes in time in FCPX – there’s spatial smoothing but that’s hardly the same and to my mind far less of a requirement!
It’s quite a major drawback but I imagine it will be one of the first things they’ll want to fix.
I’ll have a look tomorrow to see if there’s a way of delivering ease in/ease out behaviour via Motion but I rather think not.

I need to repost my split screen effects with this correction which does seem to sort everything out.
As Alex has pointed out, it does after all pay to read every word of the manual and not skip a thing 😉

I’m afraid this was a joke!
You can indeed export XML out of iMovie, at least an XML that will work with the old FCP, and it works reasonably well. But in another bitter irony you can’t get from FCPX to iMovie, even though you can of course go the other way!
So what I suggested is not actually possible – though it ought to be 😉
