Basically I just rendered them out from AE and layered the rendered QT’s on top of the rough cut like I would in FCP7. It’s not pretty but it’s the fastest way to do it for me.

    Totally works! Thanks so much!

    FYI
The music video I edited was 5 min in length. With just under 300 clips (heavy metal), 10 compound clips and 1 audio track. At first I thought Foolcut wasn’t doing anything as I was monitoring it using activity monitor. But alas it totally converted everything over to AE in about 1 hour. So if you have a lot of cuts and such just be patient. Would be nice if there was a progress meter.

Are you guys going to translate Foolcut into a FCPXML reader?

Yeah but compound clips can still be cut on accident. I was hoping I could lock them down that’s all. Seems like a basic function. I don’t know one program where objects/layers/tracks can’t be locked down.

I can work around it… ha

Like lock it so you can’t effect it in anyway. Like you can lock a track in fcp7 or lock a layer in After Effects. Lock haha.
