Personally I use a Jog Shuttle and normal keyboard, but I have most of the relevant commands memorized which works fine, and either way I would go with the external full size keyboard personally I like them more…

On a lot of computers you can exceed the limit its just apple will not guarantee that it will work…. if you can afford the experiment and want to do it it probably will work your system just might not recognize it all… but I don’t think it will cause any hardware damage….

By definition 16gb of ram on a 64bit system is an artificial limit imposed by the lack of bigger dimms, but I am sure apple will support 4gb dimms when they come out… since 64bit can address 100’s of GBs of ram, exebytes of address space…

Personally I would not try to edit video off of FW, I would either do internal or SATA or Fiber Channel…. The only thing I use firewire for is for storage unless its a portable system….

Have you looked in disc util to see if it recognized there and is just not mounting…?

Also try unplugging any other FW devices and just plug the drive in… unless thats your only one, I would also try seeing if it will mount on a different computer… if yes then run disc util on it…

Why do you need to autorun the CD?

I think you’re right that it was removed, and even if it isn’t I wouldn’t use it, its a security risk a potential opening for malicious code to get on your computer…

Grid size has nothing to do with the size of editor camera movements, what your looking for is what is the point that the camera is orbiting, and further what is the distance from that point to the camera…

Check toast’s website but if I recall that is the error message I’ve gotten each time a burner was about to die on me… but that was a while, its either that or medium problem so the DVD is bad that your recording to… check the website though…

Are you talking about monitoring from a consumer HD display? the answer is yes if you can’t afford a real HD monitor, but the issue becomes the fact that consumer HDTVs don’t have true color… now I have done this type of thing, but its not ideal, and certainly not recommended for broadcast work… Personally I prefer to use the TV as a bigger monitor for playback in that type of setup, just don’t use it for color work…
