[stu aull] “where are the new features? The controls/features on the QT Player appear unchanged. I understand Pro will convert previously un-viewable formats, etc. There is no “Convert” menu item.”

use the export command in the file menu like most programs that deal with video

[stu aull] “Is there a separate new program “QT Pro” now in my computer? I have not been able to find one if there is.”

May 10, 2006 at 5:51 pm in reply to: HDV problem

You have hit one of the biggest problems with HDV its so compressed that it doesn’t key well. Also its hard to mix with other footage like SD, because of how limited the color information is.

Can you post a sample of what it looks like…

What render settings are you using?

Are you viewing the footage on a monitor or an NTSC monitor?

Check the product websites of the products your worried about and that should tell you whether or not to upgrade.

May 8, 2006 at 3:11 pm in reply to: can c4d open 3Dmax files

The point is you can open 3DS Max files, so if your buying models, ie off turbo squid… .3ds is enough support for max files. Otherwise its dxf or fbx….

May 7, 2006 at 4:29 pm in reply to: preview with audio

I could be wrong, but I don’t think Make Preview lets you output audio, as to how others do it, personally I play it back in the editor with a low res version and then transfer the animation the high res version. Or I’ll just directly output the preview with the HUD being rendered as well so you have frame numbers and add the audio back afterwards.

I don’t know if others do it this way but it works for me, since I can output directly into Final Cut Pro or indirectly to Soundtrack Pro.

May 7, 2006 at 4:23 pm in reply to: Cloth problems

How many pages are you dealing with?

You can use seperate cloth tags on each page but you have to put collider tags on each page so they will not intersect each other and then work from the bottom up so it all looks right.

I have never tried this method with more then 3 cloth objects…
