    Hello

I’m trying to animate a book with pages turning in 4d. I’ve gone from the tutorial on Maxons site to create this with clothilde. However, when I move on to create more than one page, the pages merge when they hit the base of the book and it looks terrible, obviously I need them to rest and stack on eachother and obscure the page underneath. I checked another tutorial called Cloth-to-Cloth on Maxons site. I found the answer to my problem, but I have absoloutely no idea what it means!

“1. Both cloth items will deform and react on one another.
This can be a long cape and a skirt.
    2. One cloth item will only deformed the other, but will not be deformed by it.
Think of a loose jacket and a trouser here, the trouser will not be influenced by the jacket. ”

The first scenario applies to me…

“The first scenario can only be solved when both items are part of the same polygon object. If you want to give the items different cloth properties you have to do so by using vertex maps. Texturing will have to be done via polygon selections. In the file scenario1.c4d you will find an example where two items of cloth are made one polygon object, so the can interact. In scenario1a.c4d you will find a very similar file, but with a weightmap used to assign different masses to the items. ”

I’m pretty much a beginner at cinema 4d so excuse my ignorance if there is an obvious solution and I cant find scenario1a.c4d. I would appreciate it very much if someone could clear up the solution above! How would I make the pages (which are each seperate planes, one polygon object (I’ve tried connect to no avail)? Then, how would I give them seperate properties using vertex maps? I’ve scoured the manual and I cant seem to get my head around all this.

Sorry for the long windedness, any help much appreciated!

How many pages are you dealing with?

You can use seperate cloth tags on each page but you have to put collider tags on each page so they will not intersect each other and then work from the bottom up so it all looks right.

I have never tried this method with more then 3 cloth objects…

the best way to create pages turning, is to use separate planes for the pages, each of which is made editable. Then use the bend tool on each page to effect the pageturn.
note the pages must be spaced out in the y-axis so that the materials don’t ‘mix’.
if you need separate images on either side of each page, the page must be made up of twp separate planes, separated in the y-axis by say .1 of a unit. then make both editable and then connect them. this gives the page two distinct sides.
