February 6, 2008 at 3:26 am in reply to: Help with Andrew’s LightSaberV2: motionblur issuesI wouldn’t assume the expressions aren’t working just because it says missing: mine says that and works fine. Sorry I can’t be more help!

No way is Prem more trouble than it’s worth for basic editing! You’ll edit a lot faster than on cheaper programmes once you get used to it. As for fading out audio, click on the effects panel, audio transitions, crossfade and then drag constant power onto your clip in the timeline.

ok, hit cntl+k again to get the comp settings dialogue up, then hit the advanced tab. Check the box that reads “preserve frame rate when nested or in render queue”. That should do it.

How about conforming the frame rate of your composition right down? Select the timeline panel and hit cntl+k, then set the frame rate down to something like 15 or 10 – whatever looks good.

You do mean “how do I make audio affect a layer?” and not “how do I get a video depiction of an audio soundwave to affect a layer?”, right? If so, these tutorials are great.

Sweet, I had been wondering about this myself and just not bothered to ask…

February 5, 2008 at 8:25 am in reply to: Help with Andrew’s LightSaberV2: motionblur issuesHi Lucas,
Dang! I just assumed you’d be able to save in a legacy format – you can with virtually every other programme out there! I’ve never had to do it with AE myself, and it seems there isn’t an option.
On the other hand, perhaps it’s a problem with how the expressions reference one another or something because you’re using a German version of CS3. I’m using an English version and the preset seems to work fine for me. You say that the motion blur starts to disappear only when you ram preview? When I preview it still looks ok.
Best,

February 4, 2008 at 11:52 pm in reply to: Help with various effects (AE CS3, Premiere CS3)To make audio sound like it’s old-school radio, forget about after effects completely. It’s a pain to work with audio in AE and you don’t always get the resutls you want. Use a programme made specifically for audio, or just use Premiere. Try applying an EQ effect and then getting rid of the low frequencies (pulling the switches towards the left right down to zero). Turning down alternate switches (high, low, high, low) might also give the effect ou’re looking for.
To make text randomly scale up for one frame and move to another part of the screeb, and then return to normal (which is what it looks like the Prison Break text is doing) use a slider expression control and the wiggle effect. Aharon can explain how to do this much better than I can – see his podcast on that very topic: https://cowcast.creativecow.net/podcast/after-effects-expression-controls-part–30

Hi Nicolás,
It depends which ones you mean. Some flash tutorials cannot be downloaded. Aharon’s (and others’) podcast tutorials can be downloaded by clicking on the name of the podcast in the menu and then clicking on the “download video podcast” link on the right hand side of the screen.
