I thhought about that, but I thin I would like to have the camera do both audio and video to avoid having to sync up audio and vid each time (especially if something goes wrong for some reason)….

Do you have any camera recommendations that can do both with XLR inputs?

So, just so I understand: in your example above since colour and crop are full squares, does that mean that both selected clips in the time line have these on? Which clip(s) are creating the half-filled square for the transform parameter? IOW, how would I use the information given by the half-filled transform parameter square?

Well, my project is in SD, so I guess that is the “problem”? Seems really dodgy that that would be the case, as I am sure there are more than just myself who still are using an SD camera (until we can upgrade) and would need to be able to use a mask in FCPX… wow.

One clarifying follow-up for you or anyone else: If my project preferences are set to “720x480 DV, 29.97i”, does that mean I should use 720p or 480p (the first or second number of the project size setting) for my export size choice in Compressor? In this case, do I go with the “720p” or look for a “480p” option?
