I’ve actually found their support to be completely lacking lately. I have e-mailed twice with valid questions and I get no response. Maybe I’m wrong, but I get the impression that if they can’t fix a problem, they choose to ignore it.

  • That’s great if it’s one or two clips in a timeline… If I’m editing 12 interviews into a 30 minute program, each needs individual attention. That’s selecting the range for each indvidual clip, turning off all other audio tracks such as ambient or music, export to audio, import said file into audition, clean it, save as a new file, import that into PrePro, place it on a new audio track hoping that it syncs exactly, do this 12 more times, turn all audio tracks back on, and reselect the entire project range.

All this vs right click, edit as audition, edit in audition, save.

Little more than 30 secs here.

  • You can get Audition 3.0 now. Saddly, the context menu for Premiere Pro has changed in CS3. Now it says “edit audio in Adobe Soundbooth” instead of “edit audio in Adobe Audition.” It’s a real pain to export audio to Audition now.

    Soundbooth=complete waste.

It may be a bug. Have you tried creating black video and then putting it at the head and tail of the sequence or the clips? Then dissolve from/to the black clip. If you tried this, nevermind.

BTW, I suggest this because it is exactly what I have to do to get the sequence to work in AVID Adrenaline MC.

By an upgrade, do you mean besides the Encore CS3? As far as I know, Encore 2.0 and up still require Quicktime 7. Avid Adrenaline 1.6 and below can’t use QT 7 without major bugs in the Media Composer. That’s why we still use 1.5. It’s easier and cheaper than upgrading the AVID Adrenaline.

I’m using ver 3.7 of AMP Font Viewer. I think you have to drop the font folder (the one on the Adobe disc) onto the desktop and navigate there from AMP. It may not install directly from the disc.

If you want to send me the project file or maybe just a title file (they are usually in the same folder) send it to shawnNOSPAMMMM@visualimpactfla.com. Take out the NOSPAMMMM…

You only need to hide the master meter. You can leave all of the channel meters visible.

If you want, you can then go to Window>Audio Master Meters.
The lag will be back, but not nearly as bad.

I don’t know if they can all be fixed easily. But, when I upgraded from 2.0 to CS3, I had the same problem with all of the fonts in both Premiere and After Effects projects of old. The culprit was a single font that I use a lot getting replaced by Adobe.

To fix this I went back to the original CS3 (yes CS3) install disc. If you explore it, there is a folder called fonts in there. Then I used the freeware program AMP Font Viewer (google it) to install the new fonts over the old stuff. Everything was back to normal. No need to recreate anything. DO NOT just copy and paste the fonts into the font folder in Windows. It may claim that they were installed properly, but they were not.

The font that gave me trouble was Adobe Garamond. But there are other Adobe fonts that were affected in the upgrade.

We’re using AVID Adrenaline 1.6. We have tried using Encore 2.0 in the past. However, it must use a version of Quicktime that causes problem in the AVID.

We rolled back to 1.5. The problem there is that Encore has problems with reference files that A)contain audio and B)are over 15 minutes or so. The workaround from AVID is copy the sequence. Delete the audio from one. Export the reference with just the video. Then from the other sequence, export only the audio as a wav file.
In Encore, choose “import as timeline” and select both the ref file and the wav.

That’s how we are doing it. Don’t know if your problem is similar. Sounds like it.

    Tim,

We have been able to find the problem and recreate it at AJA. Now they are working on finding a fix. But, here is a quick fix in the meantime. You probably have the audio mixer open. Take the edge of that panel and drag it to the right until the Master channel is hidden. That’s it. Weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. If you see the meter, it has lag. Hide the meter and it works great.

    Good Luck!
