If you are trying to use it to drive a second display like a graphics card would (if I understand your point correctly), you misunderstand it’s purpose and you are trying to use the wrong tool for the job.

It does if you put a VGA to DVI adaptor on it. I do it ALL the time. The DVI input is selectable as digital or analog. The part is about $5.

I use the Grass Valley ADVC G1 and own four of them for general problem solving.

RS-422 communication is bi-directional so I would be TERRIBLY surprised if simply D/A ing the signal would work. It isn’t a simple GPI trigger.

The problem is DNxHD exhibits a gamma shift in certain Apple programs, such as FCP, so ProRes is still the preferred codec for apple users not editing in AVID.

I’m looking at the Terranex to do that for me, without White Balance and Iris and gain control… More like a classic Time Base Corrector than a CCU though… Fine for shading, more or less.
Don’t think there is anything UNIVERSAL that would act as a true CCU across camera lines and brands…

I believe I get 119 minutes of DNxHD (I’m waiting to do my first long form ProRes recording) out of my 240GB OCZ Vertex 3 drives that I paid $300 each for. The 120GB are almost always on sale (see below) for JUST over $100CDN.
I HAVE heard some reports of dropped frames if drives are over 90% full but that hasn’t been my experience… YET. I switch over with minutes to go.
Of course, your mileage can and will vary…
