It does if you put a VGA to DVI adaptor on it. I do it ALL the time. The DVI input is selectable as digital or analog. The part is about $5.

Hi Shaun,

I bought one based on your posts and other mentions. Unfortunately, I’m not getting a signal into the converter. I’m using an VGA to DVI adapter. The light’s blinking (indicating the converter’s getting no signal) though Windows 7 VGA out is sending the signal.

I’ve gotten it to work using a DVI out of a Mac.

I was wondering what settings you had on the ADVC G1 and if you had to do anything different in your PC settings.

If you had signal on DVI out of a Mac but none from a VGA to DVI converter, you likely haven’t changed the Input to DVI-A. Is it still sitting on DVI-D?

Good thought, but I did change the video dial on the front to 6 (DVI-A) when connected to the PC. I also tried it on 5 (DVI-D) just to see if it would go, but that didn’t work either.

Sounds like you have the video dial on 6 (DVI-A) and that works for you. Is that right?

Additionally, what settings do you adjust on the laptop other than make sure it’s sending a VGA out to the device?

There ARE a finite number of resolutions the converter can deal with… ESPECIALLY if the laptop is outputting something other than 60Hz.

Try manually setting the output resolution of the laptop to something we KNOW will work, for example 1024 x 768 and report back if you would be so kind.

So, surprise, surprise, user error (I) stopped the VGA signal getting to the G1.

My laptop was in a dock, which disabled the side VGA port and drove the active signal out of the dock, not the laptop directly. That was the first blocking of the signal.

Next, my laptop is a Dell E4310 with Windows 7 that has a graphics setting control panel by Intel. Under General Settings/Scaling, the drop down also had to be set at Maintain Display Scaling.
