THRILLED to hear you are excited about it. I hate to admit it but it’s PRIMARY purpose will be as the MultiView for my ATEM 1ME in my road rack. From your enthusiasm, perhaps I should make sure I put that one on the video router for sending other signals its way…

use SDI (which is just your standard RG-59 cable with BNC connectors)Sort of.
For short cable runs, you can certainly get by with regular RG59 cable but for long runs in HD, cable ballistics become critical.
I recently did a multi camera live event using my old good quality sd cables to feed HD-sdi signals out to 200 feet but to get the full 300′ theoretically available in HD, I would only consider dedicated HD-sdi cable like Belden 1505 .

I will accept the absence of a PRINTED manual, especially since BMD products are often updated with new features and bug fixes but I DEMAND a pdf or online manual that is updated regularly to explain what my product now does.
To suggest that a product doesn’t require a manual is asinine. Especially a highly sophisticated product, like we are talking about here.

I can only speak for the ATEM 1M/E but the most recent update allows any input to be routed to any control surface (software in my case) “button”. A MAJOR improvement over the previous setup.

I live in Canada and am lucky to have easy access to custom manufacturers like Clydesdale Custom Cases and Big Deal Custom Cases, at custom built prices.
If your needs are slightly lower, look at DJK Cases which are manufactured in Asia and shipped flat (KINDA like IKEA…) and assembled either in the States or Richmond, BC, Canada to meet ATA300 specs. The DJK Cases are quite solid (although I would argue not AS solid as Clyde’s or Big Deal’s…) ataa VERY reasonable price… bordering on CHEAP!

December 12, 2011 at 6:26 pm in reply to: Need advice on hooking up a presentation computer to a Blackmagic Design ATEM Television Studio switcherI’m using a Grass Valley AVG G1 Anything to SDI converter to feed VGA (through a VGA – DVI-I adaptor) in and getting HD-SDI out. Works like a charm for my IMAG/conference/convention live switching.

December 4, 2011 at 5:08 pm in reply to: Studio Videohub – Can someone confirm the routing of the outputsAgain Bob, thanks.
I was under the impression that one could “log in” to the router to make changes and then disconnect the computer (possibly a laptop in my application) and that the network connection to the control computer doesn’t need to be constant. Is that correct?
I will be using it for routing sources in and out of my ATEM based multicam system and once the show is set up, historically I don’t need to make changes until the next show.
Appreciate your learned input! Thanks.

December 2, 2011 at 10:25 pm in reply to: Studio Videohub – Can someone confirm the routing of the outputsThanks Bob. I ASSUME you are verifying this by actually having used the device and not just on literature?
I’ll be ordering mine sight unseen so I NEED to make sure I get this right.

Thanks Justin! Just downloaded the update and it works PERFECTLY. The remapping was a little counterintuitive until I RTFM. There it was.
