Can you go into specifics why. I am also working on a project where the footage was shot from a Sony xdcam and the file format is mpeg-4. I am trying to play my clips in PP and I am dropping frames and audio.

Sorry it took me so long to respond but try out After Effects CS3 Studio techniques. It looks like is could be cool. Also try Photoshop for video by Richard Harrington. Thats all I can think of at this moment but I am sure there are a lot more.

    Hope this helps:)

Also try Adobe TV they also have a lot of great professional tuts that really will set your work apart, not only that, they will help you integrate the entire CS3 so that you can get the most out of your video.

honestly the best bet is to buy the books (written by the professional users not adobe). There is alot of information in those that cannot be covered in a tutorial and it will also start making you think out of the box rather than working on something that someone has already done. This way when you think of an effect you want to do, you will have such a knowledge of the program and visual effects that you will be able to logically think of a way to create that effect without fishing through the internet for a tutorial or blog on the subject. But it is always good to do research.

    Just a thought

    Hope this helps

Im pretty sure that Photoshop does handle video now, but you have to use CS3. Try exporting it out as another file. Maybe the AVI file is just not recognized. I would try a quicktime, PNG file, or an image sequence. There is also a great book written by Richard Harrington called “photoshop for video” (that I have not read yet but……). Worse case scenario this book should help you solve the problem and give you more insight for future projects. Hope this helps

That helped out a lot guys thanks so much. I did not enable multi processing and I found out about Grid Iron Nucleo pro. I have it running in the background and now things are running more smoothly. Thanks for the advice!

Not sure if you tried this but you might want to try Trapcode Particular. If you visit the site go to the gallery section and find Pierre Michele’s “Firefly” you will see the same effect I think that you are trying to achieve. He also give a little information on how to create the embers. Hope that this helps.

    good luck
