To get music into FCP, it needs to be an AIFF file at 48khz, 16 bit stereo. So if you want a song from a CD, you go into the iTunes Preferences and set this up under the IMPORTING tab:
File > preferences > importing > import using – AIFF encoder > Setting – Custom
Sample Rate – 48.000 kHz
Sample size – 16 bit
Channels – StereoIf you have an mp3 that you want to use, then you can convert it thru iTunes as well.
If the piece of music you want to use is something you purchased thru iTunes, I’m afraid I can’t help you there. There are copywrite issues that prevent files from being converted into the format that FCP can recognize.

The Firmtek SATA will do you fine, as would a G-SATA…even a G-RAID FW800 can handle 4 streams of 8-bit and 2 streams of 10-bit uncompressed. G-Raid 500 is $549 at http://www.bhphoto.com. G-SATA is $150 more for the same space, but has better transfer speed.

Define cheap…for about $1200 you can get 1TB with the following:
G-Raid. FW 800 and can handle 8-bit and even 10-bit uncompressed (www.bhphoto.com).

Uncompressed SD? HD?
If HD, and even if SD, Walter’s suggestion is a good one. But if you are only doing SD, you can get an AJA I/O or Decklink Extreme card, and then get a nice External SATA Array from either Big Disk or FirmTek.

If you are using FCP HD (4.5) and running under 10.3.x (panther) than stick to QT 6.5. The only reason to go to QT 7 is if you have FCP 5 and are running under 10.3.9 or 10.4.x (Tiger).
QT 7 and FCP 4.5 don’t play very well.
And why did you buy QT Pro 3 times? Once was enough. All you need to do is go into QT preferences, go to REGISTRATION and enter the code.

What is your question? I am really confused. You cut your project…had a mix done, then RE-CUT because of a bad mix, and now you want to remix again? But you want all the original clips and their audio from before the mix was added?
Is that right?
If so, go to a previous version of the cut…one BEFORE you added the mix. If you didn’t make one (a wise thing to do) then look in the Project Archives…the backup folder.
TIP: Before you make any major changes to a cut, DUPLICATE it and make the changes to the duplicate. This way you always have a previous version in case you liked something you did earlier better, or in case you run into problems…like this one.

Hmmm…that didn’t seem all that expensive to me. And if they are reliable, and come highly recommended by someone in the video business who tested them, then I’d consider them.
