Good one…
Unless you want to burn the bridge of the client who you are working thru, I wouldn’t do it. Going behind someone’s back is…well…not good business. If you want to remain in business with that client.

You need to log and capture. Log each clip…mark IN 5 seconds AFTER the TC break to allow preroll, and mark OUT before the TC breaks.
I am working with the SAME situation. Same Camera, same TC issue…time of day. And two cameras. Just log each clip and you will be fine.

720×480 is the dimensions of DV. 720×486 is the standard dimensions of SD video. The 6 pixels are blank on the DV footage…that’s it. No information. Not something anyone at home would see or not see anyway.

The issue is that really you should know a thing or two about post production and your needs before you go and buy a professional system. Or that you should call places that specialize in building turnkey systems based on your needs, like Promax.
Don’t start messing with something unless you know about it. I know NOTHING about car repair, and wouldn’t even consider trying to assemble one from scratch.

Also, are you viewing these graphics on the Computer monitor, or external TV or NTSC monitor? Never judge the quality of the image using the computer monitor.

Both work and work well. Experienced pros use both, and praise both. The decision is really yours.
The advantage of the Kona LH is analogue ins…but lack of 12-bit that the Kona 2 and decklink 4:4:4 have. But really, both are great cards.

Who knows. It isn’t HD land…I am running off Direct TV analogue SD and man, it is BAD.
