Not really. It’s crashing is fine. We get the idea.

All that gobbledy-gook tells us nothing. OK…there are more than editors…there are graphics artists, audio professionals, Motion Graphics gurus, camera operators, and so on.

You cannot play two different codecs in one timeline without having to render one of them.

My suggestion is to convert the screen grab footage to DV. Export to DV/NTSC thru quicktime by opening the clip and going FILE>EXPORT.

Yes, this may take a while. This is the drawback for using footage that is an odd format. And yes, the screen capture is an odd format.

Also, please don’t post that code. No one here knows what it means…we are all editing professionals, not FCP coders.

    No.

H.264 is a web delivery codec, not an editable one.

Are you planning on the final film being transferred back from HD onto film, or are you planning on having the negative cut?

DVCPRO HD is a compressed form of HD that FCP can capture via firewire. But it isn’t suitable for blowing up to film. What people generally do (what I did) was trasnfer the film to D5, have DVCAM dubs made with matching timecode, edit and then go to a facility that could edit with the D5 master and online the project. Then you have a D5 master than can be transferred to film.

To edit any other form of HD other than DVCPRO HD you’ll need an HD capture card and high speed drive RAIDS, which is why it is wise to online and finish at a facility that has that setup.

Not sure about just installing the components. I mean, they will install separately and all, but how they will interact with FCP 4.5…don’t think they will very well, seeing as they are designed for FCP 5.

And yes, a clean install means wiping the system drive clean and installing everything fresh. Best option if you are going from Panther to Tiger and from FCP 4.5 to FCP 5.

Type “B” to get the razor tool. Then razor where you want the audio break to be.
